Always active and full of life, I grew up in California surfing, backpacking, cliff climbing, and golfing to mention just a few of the things that have influenced my life. I have been National Champion Bicyclist...Father and husband for 22 years.   You name it and I’ve probably tried it.

Art is the other side of my personality.   Most people who know me can not believe that I can slow down enough and have the patience it takes to paint.   But I find it totally consuming and it is one of my great passions.   I thank God for all of the gifts he has given me.

I’ve had no formal training but have studied under a great painter Ashley Hill.   Even though our techniques are different I owe most of my training to my friend and mentor Ashley.

Everything that I try to do, I've always tried to be the best that I can be...and it's the same with my painting.   It's not enough for me to just paint...what I paint must express what I feel and see inside.   It must be full of color and life.   Most people who come in contact with my paintings love the color and expression of the art.   I know that I have achieved my goal when I hear people say,   I love your painting.

Recently while looking at one of my Ocean scenes, I over heard someone say, “ I would love to go there”.    As an artist that is the greatest complement.   ~DOUG
